This rusty brown acrylic is a staple of the chipping technique, applied as an undercoat beneath your main color so it can be revealed later as convincing paint damage, exposed metal, and wear.

Purpose-Built for the Chipping Weathering Technique

Painters lay down Chipping Brown as a base layer, add the finished color on top, then chip away small sections with a sponge, hobby knife, or Vallejo Chipping Medium to expose the brown underneath. The result is a realistic, battle-scarred finish on Gundam, Transformer, and other mecha and action figure builds.
