Three New Factions to Master

The Lilypad Diaspora arrives seeking a peaceful home in the Woodland, but keeping their warriors' aggression in check amid ongoing civil war is no easy task. The Twilight Council brings together every corner of the Woodland, from the lowliest mouse-in-a-sack to the mightiest hawk with a royal claim, in assemblies that favor political connections over raw military strength. And the mysterious Knaves of the Deepwood raid barracks and baggage trains from the treeline, taking hostages for ransom. Each faction plays with the asymmetric mechanics Root is known for, giving every game a completely different feel.

Two New Maps to Explore

Take the fight to new terrain with the expandable Marsh map or the tricky Gorge map, each offering a fresh layout and new strategic wrinkles for veteran players to master.

Designed by S.W. Smith and Joshua Yearsley, Root: The Homeland Expansion supports 2 to 6 players, plays best with 4, and takes about 60 to 90 minutes to play. Recommended for ages 10 and up. This is an expansion, and a copy of the Root board game is required to play.
